                    OUR UNCONSCIONABLE NATIONAL DEBT

                                 ______

                           HON. MIKE COFFMAN

                              of colorado

                    in the house of representatives

                         Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Mr. COFFMAN of Colorado. Mr. Speaker, on January 20, 2009, the day
President Obama took office, the national debt was
$10,626,877,048,913.08.
Today, it is $15,782,570,144,097.96. We've added
$5,155,693,095,184.88 to our debt in just over 3 years. This is debt
our nation, our economy, and our children could have avoided with a
balanced budget amendment.
Forty-nine years ago today, John F. Kennedy delivered his Ich bin ein
Berliner speech in West Berlin. At that time, America had the economic
security to challenge her communist foe. We must rid ourselves of this
crippling debt.
