Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Homebuyer Tax Credit Renewal Act of 2010''. SEC. 2. ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYER CREDIT. (a) In General.--Paragraph (1) of section 36(h) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by inserting before the period at the end the following: ``, or during the 1-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of the Homebuyer Tax Credit Renewal Act of 2010''. (b) Effective Date.--The amendment made by this section shall apply to purchases on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
